YFlows | First Sequence

Creating Your First Sequence

If you're new to YFlows, it may be helpful to start with a simple sequence.

First, review the Pose Library to see what poses are available.

Pose Library - Pose library with common names. Bound Angle has common names "BK", "bound angle", "butterfly" or "baddha konasana". You can use any of these names in your sequence.

Second, review a sample sequence to review the Sequence Text Format to see how to create a sequence.

YF Sample Sequences - sample sequences. You can view the "Simple View" to see the poses and transitions. Or you can use the "Text View" to see the sequence text format. We review the Text Format as it is the easiest way to see how to create a sequence.

Third, create your own sequence.

Create Sequence - Create your own sequence. Add the Name and the type (Complete, Flow, etc) with a short optionally formatted description. In your sequence description, you can add links to an Instagram post or Youtube video, along with any other information you want to share.

Fourth, edit your own sequence.

Edit your sequence! Open up the Sequence and view the Text Format -- you will now be able to submit a new text delimited sequence. Viola!

Lastly, have fun!

Looking forward to seeing your shared fun&creative sequences!

Sample Sequence

Sequences are ordered pose variations. Each variation has optional transition cues, optional directions, and optional pose cues. You can get more fancy with repetitions and other modifiers, check the Sequence Text Format for more details.

Hint: If you get a Warning: Invalid variation string format in "FLOOR SERIES" - make sure to check you have commas where they need to be!

You can be as specific or as general as you want. These are notes to yourself. The first locust pose has the optional "half locust" name, with the sample cue "feet stay on mat"; then locust "feet lift up". We cue "legs up the wall", a Common Name for 'waterfall', while also giving the transition option for students to choose any cooldown postures if they want shoulder stand or something else.

Warmups are inherently hard to quantify, as they are so specialized. Use the foundational poses to build your sequence, and add in a specific variation to make it your own.
