Description
Full Splits (Hanumanasana) is an extreme pose that requires near-maximal flexibility in the legs. The front leg’s hamstrings and calf are intensely stretched as that leg extends forward, and the back leg’s hip flexors and quadriceps are equally lengthened as it reaches straight back. To hold the split, the inner thigh (adductor) muscles and core engage subtly to keep the hips squared and balanced, preventing collapse and maintaining an upright posture over the pelvis.
