Description
Half Lift, or Half Forward Fold, is the midway position between upright standing and a full forward bend. In this pose, the spine extends forward with a long back, engaging the lower back and core muscles to maintain a flat, neutral spine. Ardha Uttanasana stretches the hamstrings and calves more gently than the full fold, and it serves to re-lengthen the spine after a deep Uttanasana. It is often used in vinyasa flows as a transition, training the body to find extension through the back and openness through the chest before moving deeper into a fold.
