Description
Cow Pose (Bitilasana) is the counterpart to Cat Pose, where the spine is dropped into a gentle sway. This movement engages the spinal extensors and intrinsic back muscles to concave the back, and the chest muscles stretch as the shoulders draw back and the gaze lifts slightly. The front body – including the abdominal muscles – gets a mild stretch as the belly lowers toward the floor, while the glutes and erector spinae engage to accentuate the lumbar curve. Cow Pose helps to increase spinal extension and open the front of the body, complementing the flexion of Cat Pose. Cow pose, hands and knees chest opening pose.
